Bus and Coach Hire in Austria
Bus-service.com has run coaches through Austria since 2014, and we know the country rewards careful planning. Vienna sits at the centre of most of our work here, with airport runs from Vienna International (VIE) into the first district, congress transfers for the Austria Center and Messe Wien, and day trips out to the Wachau valley. We also cover Salzburg, the Tyrol and Innsbruck, and we move a lot of groups during ski season from the airports up into the resorts.
Austrian roads have two charges you need to get right. Cars and vans use the motorway vignette, the Pickerl, while vehicles over 3.5 tonnes pay a separate distance-based GO-Box toll. We handle both in the price, so a coach quote already includes the GO-Box and any Alpine surcharges. Passes and tunnels like the Brenner and the Tauern carry their own tolls on top, and we build those into the figure before you book rather than springing them on you later.
The groups we carry through Austria are as varied as the country itself. We move corporate delegations between Vienna hotels and the Austria Center, wedding parties out to the Wachau and the lake districts, school and university trips, sports teams heading to fixtures and training camps, and multi-day touring groups working their way from Vienna to Salzburg and the Tyrol. Whatever the occasion, you work with one dedicated coordinator from first enquiry to final drop-off, and you receive a single written quote that already covers the driver, fuel, the GO-Box toll, parking, pass charges and the driver's hours. We size the vehicle to the group, from a 7-seat van for a small delegation up to a coach near sixty or seventy-five seats, so nobody pays for space they do not need.
Driving in Austria: tolls, passes and the ski season
The motorway network is fast and well kept, but the mountain sections need a driver who has done them before. Our people know the gradients on the Brenner, the queues that build at the Tauern tunnel on Saturdays in winter, and the timing that keeps a transfer on schedule. Every quote includes the driver, fuel, the GO-Box toll, parking and any tunnel or pass charges.
Austria also works as a base for crossing borders. We run regularly into Germany and Bavaria, over to Switzerland, south into Italy through the Brenner, and east to Budapest, Prague and Bratislava. The fleet ranges from the Mercedes V-Class for up to seven, through Sprinter minibuses up to nineteen, to Tourismo coaches seating around sixty, all with English-speaking drivers.
Planning a coach trip across the Austrian seasons
Demand in Austria swings hard with the calendar, and planning around it keeps a trip smooth. Winter is dominated by ski transfers, when Saturday changeover days fill the roads into the Tyrol and Salzburgerland and vehicles should be booked well ahead. Summer brings touring groups to Salzburg for the festival season, walkers and cyclists into the Alpine valleys, and a steady flow of coaches through the Wachau and along the lakes of the Salzkammergut. Spring and autumn are quieter and well suited to congresses, conferences and corporate programmes in Vienna, where dates can move at short notice.
Coach access in Austria is straightforward on the motorways but needs local knowledge in the old towns and the mountains. Central Vienna and the historic core of Salzburg have tight streets and controlled zones, so we plan drop-off and pick-up points that keep a group close to where they need to be without holding up traffic. Popular group runs include the Wachau valley and its abbeys, the lakes around Hallstatt and the Salzkammergut, the Grossglockner road in the warmer months, and day trips from Vienna out to Schonbrunn and the Vienna Woods. Our drivers know which approaches work for a full-size coach and which call for a Sprinter minibus instead.

Yes. For coaches and minibuses over 3.5 tonnes the distance-based GO-Box toll is already in the quote, along with the standard vignette where it applies. You will not be asked for road charges separately on the day.
Those passes and tunnels carry their own tolls, and we add them to the quote before you confirm. The figure you approve is the figure you pay, so there are no surprise charges when you reach the mountains.
We do this every winter, moving groups from Vienna and Salzburg up to resorts in the Tyrol, Salzburgerland and beyond. Our drivers are used to mountain roads in snow, and the vehicles run on winter tyres throughout the cold months.
