100% Carbon Neutral

Every Trip,
CO2 Compensated

When you charter with Bus-service, the climate cost of your journey is handled for you. We measure the real emissions of your trip and offset 100 percent of them through certified projects, all at no extra cost.

This page explains the mechanics of that promise: how we measure your trip, which certified projects we fund and how the carbon credits are retired. Offsetting is one pillar of our wider sustainability program.

How It Works

What We Actually Offset

A trip is more than the fuel burned on the road. To make a journey genuinely carbon neutral, the whole footprint has to be counted, from the fuel in the tank to the empty miles before and after. Here is everything we measure and compensate for your charter.

Direct Emissions

The CO2 the engine produces while it carries your group, calculated from the real distance driven and each vehicle’s measured fuel consumption. This is the largest share of any trip, and the part most operators stop at.

Fuel Production

Diesel does not appear at the pump for free. Extracting, refining and transporting it all releases CO2 long before the bus moves. We include this upstream footprint so the figure reflects the true cost of the journey.

Empty Runs

The drive from the depot to your pickup point, and back again once the trip is done, still burns fuel even though nobody is on board. We count these positioning kilometres too, rather than quietly leaving them out.

Certified Projects

Where Your Offset Goes

Offsetting only counts if the projects behind it are real and independently verified. We do not buy the cheapest credits we can find. Every euro goes into work that is certified to the two most trusted standards in the voluntary carbon market, and the credits are retired in your name so they can never be resold.

Reforestation

We fund certified reforestation that plants native species, restores wildlife habitats and creates paid local jobs in the regions where the trees go in the ground. For every 2,000 km your group travels, one tree is planted, and the forests we support are monitored for decades, not just the first season.

Gold Standard Certified

Renewable Energy

We invest in wind and solar projects that displace fossil-fuel power on the grid, cutting emissions at the source instead of after the fact. The verified credits these projects generate are then permanently retired against your trip, so the reduction is locked in and traceable to your booking.

VCS Verified
The Process

How Our Compensation Works

Three simple steps, and none of them are on you. Every charter is offset automatically, with the carbon credits retired against your booking through independently verified projects.

Book Your Trip

Request a quote and confirm your charter. CO2 compensation is already included in the price we give you, so there is nothing extra to add or tick.

2

We Calculate

After your trip we calculate the total emissions from the actual distance driven, the specific vehicle used and how many people travelled, then fund the matching offset.

3

We Offset It

We retire the matching carbon credits against your booking through certified Gold Standard or VCS projects, so your trip’s footprint is cancelled out, verifiably and traceably.

FAQ

Common Questions

No. Carbon offsetting comes with every booking and we cover the cost ourselves. We think a charter operator should clean up after its own buses.

We use actual trip distance, specific vehicle fuel consumption data, and passenger count to calculate precise CO2 emissions per journey.

Every project we fund is certified to Gold Standard or VCS (Verified Carbon Standard). These are the two most recognized standards in voluntary carbon markets.

Every booking is offset through Gold Standard or VCS certified projects, with the credits retired against your trip so they cannot be resold. If you need the underlying figures for reporting, just ask and we will share them.

All vehicles in our fleet are 1–5 years old with the latest Euro VI emission engines, already producing the lowest possible emissions before offset.
